AN EVENING WITH ANDREW BARBER

At Sandy Airfield, LongAcre Farm, Bedford Rd, Sandy SG19 1ND.

Club members, pilots and friends,

Brian Montila has arranged an evening presentation on Friday 16th February at 7.30pm by Andrew Barber. Andrew currently is an airworthiness and flight test engineer for HAV (Hybrid Air Vehicles) the company behind Airlander at Cardington.

Andrew’s career is varied: A development engineer with Rolls Royce on the RB211 engine, time with Lotus cars, his own sports car manufacture, an aircraft furniture manufacturer and several other aviation companies.

He has flown gliders from the age of 15 and started PPL training in 2007 and now flies from Henlow and Turweston.

Andrew says:-

"I can tune the presentation up or down in length but I usually like to have up to an hour to talk then anything up to half an hour for questions. I'll be in no hurry to leave afterwards. For the content, typically I'll open with recent test activities, including my flight on 17th November, then touch on some airship history, some HAV technology (I'll be assuming PPL aircraft knowledge in the audience!), potential Airlander roles and our future plans"

It promises to be a good evening!

Supper: -  Hot food (Chilli/Lasagne) and Tea, Coffee will be served. Please advise if vegetarian option preferred.

£6  Payment at the door, if you book please turn up  (any surplus monies after costs will be given to Air Ambulance)

Pre booking is essential as numbers are limited by the clubhouse capacity ( Microlight club members have priority)
